Window decoration for autumn and winter: do it yourself or buy it?

In the winter months, the days are shorter – and even if we do enjoy daylight, it is usually gray when we look out the window. To improve the prospects in the truest sense of the word, a little decoration can come in handy. But do you have to buy them at all?
Not only the window sill invites you to decorate: The glass fronts can also be artistically decorated in just a few simple steps. You don’t even have to spend money for this, as long as you have paper and scissors, a pencil and scotch tape to hand. Here you can even actively involve your children, who can let their creativity run free when crafting window pictures. And even if you don’t have the right accessories at hand, there are a variety of great decorative elements on the Internet that ensure winter window decoration. Depending on which variant you choose, you will have to help a little with the implementation. Below are a few design ideas.
DIY: Make window decorations for autumn and winter
Make snowflakes
This crafting tip is very easy and also cheap: all you need to make snowflakes is a white sheet of paper, scissors and a pencil. To then stick the window pictures to the panes, you need some adhesive tape. Of course, if you prefer to cut out colored snowflakes, you can too colorful construction paper use. The following design ideas offer at least as much fun for young and old: chalk pens and Window Color. The former has the advantage that the window decoration for the winter can be attached just as easily as it can be wiped off. The liquid chalk in the pens sticks particularly well to smooth surfaces such as glass, so you can get creative with them. Alternatively, the removable window paints are particularly practical for creating your own pictures and then sticking them on the glass.
This is how you conjure up an autumnal window decoration
When it comes to window decorations for the winter, the panes don’t necessarily have to be decorated. The window sill is just as suitable. There you can, for example, set up decorative elements such as vases in cold shades of blue, suitable for the season. They act alone, but can also be filled with decorative elements: artificial ones magnolias or branches, flowering branches or pussy willow visually enhance each vase even more.
Even if furniture stores are currently closed, there is still the opportunity to shop online for window decorations for the winter. Geometric shapes, reindeer heads, lamps and fruit bowls made of steel are particularly good for this, as they come into their own in the winter months, despite the cold colour. Especially when they are filled with “life” (i.e. candles or fruit).
A classic in the wintertime is the poinsettia, which adorns countless windows when it’s cold and uncomfortable outside. It doesn’t matter whether it’s made of wood or paper – the only important thing is that the star contains a small LED lamp so that you can make it shine at any time when darkness falls. In this model, the light is even controlled by a remote control, so you can remotely activate the fairy lights it contains.
Or you can make your own paper stars out of construction paper: Here, too, there are a large number of wintry motifs that are ideal for decorative window pictures.
