Coach Mouratoglou on Djokovic: “Everyone is beatable”

Novak Djokovic against Carlos Alcaraz is the dream final in the tennis classic in Wimbledon. The Serbian top star has not lost at Wimbledon since 2017. Does the series last?
Star trainer Patrick Mouratoglou considers a late imposing Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon winning streak in Sunday’s final against Carlos Alcaraz possible.
“Everyone can be beaten, that’s clear, especially in a Grand Slam final,” said the former long-time coach (53) of tennis superstar Serena Williams of the German Press Agency. There is a lot at stake.
“If he wins, he really sets himself apart from Rafa in terms of Grand Slam titles. It gets emotional for him again.” Djokovic is the favorite for him. But even given the possible emotions and pressure, anything can happen, said Mouratoglou.
Djokovic at Wimbledon with 34 wins in a row
Serbian world number two Djokovic (36) has not suffered a defeat at Wimbledon since the 2017 quarter-finals. The semi-final success against the Italian Jannik Sinner was his 34th victory in a row on the classic lawn.
In the final on Sunday there will be a quick Grand Slam reunion between Djokovic and the Spanish world number one Alcaraz (20) after the semi-finals at the French Open. In Paris, Alcaraz had been plagued by cramps early on and lost. “He has the experience of Roland Garros. Now he knows he has to control his emotions,” said Mouratoglou.
In Paris, Djokovic became the sole record Grand Slam winner ahead of Rafael Nadal with his 23rd title in one of the four most important tournaments. Should he win again at Wimbledon, he would have two more Grand Slam titles than the injured Spaniard (22).
