In a few hours, William Shatner will be flying into space. Contrary to his “Star Trek” history, he will do it all in blue.

As Captain James T. Kirk, actor William Shatner (90) penetrated into unknown galaxies, first in a yellow, then in a red Federation uniform. On his first real trip into space, however, the “Star Trek” legend will climb into the spaceship all in blue. Blue Origin, the space company of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (57), meanwhile has a photo of Shatner and his crew members published by the space mission NS-18.

The other people in the picture: Audrey Powers, vice president of missions and flight operations at Blue Origin, Glen de Vries, co-founder of the medical research platform Medidata, and Chris Boshuizen, a technology entrepreneur. Actually, they should have started on Tuesday (October 12th). Due to strong winds, the trip was postponed to Wednesday (October 13th).

He makes history

90-year-old Shatner would be the oldest person to travel into space when Blue Origin’s New Shepard 4 spacecraft, which consists of a rocket engine and capsule, hits the limit of space.
