Why rapper Koba LaD, who has just been released from prison, is once again worried by the courts

“Too many haters, too many envious people, too many suckers, I don’t understand. Yet I did well, I did well. So on a whim, I screwed the old manager,” sings Koba LaD in Link in the Ends, released at the end of 2022. Words which seem premonitory today as the rapper is summoned on October 16 before the criminal court, after a complaint filed by his former manager, Deuspi, confirms the Melun prosecutor at 20 minutes. Marvin Iram, his real name, at the head of Grinta Records, suffered, for “several hours, a thorough beating”, describes The Parisian. Return to these accusations concerning Koba LaD, already charged and imprisoned for acts of violence.

Stabbing violence

Barely released, already worried by the justice system. Does Koba LaD still have his nerves on edge? While he was released from a four-month prison sentence in March, following a fight outside the club, the French rapper therefore had another meeting with the law in October. The testimony of his manager describes scenes of exceptional violence. The Parisian reports blows with the butt of a revolver, stab wounds “to the skull, back and left side”. The account [email protected], cited on various specialized sites, published last May a WhatsApp conversation which describes the scene: “Koba LaD kidnapped, beat up and put out the eye of his manager Deuspi” whom he suspected “of improperly distributing the shares held by the Grinta Records label”.

The Instagram account, which apparently follows all the news from the rap scene, both French and English, even published what appears to be the minutes of the rapper’s summons to court. “It is impossible to confirm with certainty” that this is indeed the document, responds to 20 minutes the Melun prosecutor. But the paper clearly reports “violence leading to total incapacity for work for more than eight days” on the person of “Mr. Iram Marvin” between April 16 and 17, 2023, i.e. around twenty days after his release from prison. . On June 2, the media Générasonrap already mentioned the manager’s complaint and Koba LaD’s summons to court following a beating. And the media specifies that the alleged facts are “accompanied by violence having caused 15 days of ITT”.

A grudge against a mentor

Four men, including Marcel Loutarila – or Koba LaD on stage – are therefore expected to be judged. But the 23-year-old rapper with four platinum records has already explained his anger against his former mentor. Koba LaD indeed confided in the show Clique of Mouloud Achour, affirming that he felt betrayed by his “legal manager” in the eyes of the State, as he describes it to Ptit Delire Tv. “I thought they were managing it, but in fact it wasn’t… When I started wanting to get an apartment, I asked them for the tax forms, they were weird, you saw. They were making me go crazy, one day I broke down and went to the bank myself, and I realized a lot of things, you’re falling from a height. It hurts my heart, I wish it on no one,” he says in the Canal+ show. “When I look at the contracts, when I look at the files, I say to myself ‘in fact from the start, they were out to screw me’,” he continues.

However, this Deuspi, he was “everything” to him. “It’s my whole life, I lived a lot with him, because I had a lot of problems at home, when I went into police custody it was him who was looking for me (…) Deuspi it’s everything for me,” he confided four years ago to Ptit Delire Tv. The rapper’s entourage interviewed by The Parisian also states that Deuspi would never have stolen anything from his protégé. He then points out the new associations with Koba LaD which would have “got into his brain”. The court will rule on the guilt of the rapper who, however, risks being sentenced as a repeat offender, only a few months after his release.
