Why is Till Lindemann celebrating in the Berlin Kitkat Club?

According to a Berlin DJ, Till Lindemann was able to celebrate an after-show party in Berlin – in the famous Kitkat fetish club. DJ Iva Bodul, who played at the Kitkat Club on Monday night, wrote about the incident in her Instagram story. “Unfortunately, the whole thing has a very shitty aftertaste,” she writes and also publishes a message from the Kitkat Club.

The club’s email states that the Rammstein issue is “difficult” at the moment because not much is known about the case. “Till Lindemann has visited us from time to time in recent years,” says the further allegation that Lindemann’s bag had not been checked. Lindemann knows the security staff from previous visits. The email went on to say, “Nothing questionable ever happened at the club, and his daughter was often there.”

The allegations against Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann should be known to everyone by now – several women accuse the singer of sexually abusing them at after-show parties after Rammstein concerts, often using knockout drops. Lindemann denies all allegations through his lawyers. In the run-up to the three concerts that the band played at the Berlin Olympic Stadium over the weekend (the last of the concerts is tonight), activists had demonstrated against the performances; Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) had canceled the band’s planned Berlin after-show parties because the allegations were so serious.

DJ Iva Bodul made Lindemann’s visit to the Kitkat Club public on Instagram.iva.bodul/Instagram

At the request of the Berliner Zeitung, Kitkat operator Kirsten Krüger confirms that Till Lindemann visited the club with his bandmates on the night of July 16th to 17th. She couldn’t answer whether his bag was checked or not: “The bag check takes place in the club, not outside. Not all bags are checked either, the rush of visitors sometimes doesn’t allow it,” says Krüger. “But there hasn’t been and still isn’t a ‘celebrity bonus’ at this point.”

Even before Krüger confirmed the visit, the incident was already known in the club’s environment. It is said that Till Lindemann was not on the club’s black list. But when he spontaneously appeared in front of the club at the weekend, an “overwhelmed bouncer” probably “reacted incorrectly”, reports someone from the club’s environment.

DJs call for boycott of Kitkat club

Now other DJs are calling for consequences for the Kitkat Club on social media. “Ravers and DJs, boycott this place actively and loudly!” wrote DJ Max Marlon. Regarding the call for a boycott, Kerstin Krüger said: “I don’t know how I can change that.”

The Berlin DJ Intaktogene has joined Marlon’s call for a boycott. She wonders how Lindemann was able to gain access to the club, which is known to be open to sex, despite the allegations of abuse against him. “Anyone who lets a Till Lindemann into a sex-positive club and then defends it (because you don’t know what’s true) completely shits on the umpteen statements by women, against which only one stands, that of the alleged perpetrator,” wrote her on Instagram. Regarding the allegation that Lindemann’s bag had not been checked, she wrote: “I don’t think I have to explain how problematic this is in view of the allegations against him.”

DJ Vaiana, who played at Kitkat the same evening as Iva Bodul, has also clearly distanced herself from the case on Instagram. She herself would not have noticed anything about the visit that evening. “It’s an absolute no-go,” she said. “Of course, if I had been in a position to actually hear about it, I would have ‘raised up’ and argued that the supposed safe space that the Kitty is trying to provide is actually a safe space.”
