The time is not right for the situation at the pump to improve: the Confederation of Wholesalers of France (CGF) warned Thursday evening that deliveries to wholesalers’ customers were going to be “severely and generally compromised from Friday” if the fuel shortage persists.
“Wholesale companies are housed in the same boat as any motorist and are faced with the same geographical differences”, alarms the CGF, including a survey of its members reveals their “growing concern”.
“Real risks of stopping activity”
85% of the members of the organization do not personally have a tank of fuel and, on average, a full one allows driving between two and five days depending on the mileage and the frequency of rotation. For those who have a tank, the stocks can last between three and 15 days. These wholesalers “fear real risks of stopping activity as the weekend approaches if the delivery situation does not improve”, assures the CGF.
“Waiting at the pump for wholesalers’ drivers and the time spent looking for a supply station is paid and non-productive work time, resulting in overtime for carrying out rounds. Some companies have brought the start-up times early in the morning (04:00 a.m.), ”she continues. A third of French service stations are experiencing supply difficulties.
