Recently, the Mühldorfer Schäffler danced again, namely for the club’s anniversary of the Altmühldorf brass band, which always so faithfully blows the march and also makes all the other movement-related music. Most important in the repertoire is the “Second Munich Schäffler-Tanz”, whose lyrics “Aber heit is koid” was absolutely wrong this time.
But normally it would be really cold when the coopers come, after all their dance is actually a carnival custom. But when exactly the Mühldorfer Schäffler dance is no longer normal anyway – at least not in the sense of standard or regular. Because even if there should be room for both of them in this town: the recently two rival Mühldorfer Schäfflervereine are obviously trying to get ahead of each other by dancing.
Dancing should only be done every seven years, and if something has gotten mixed up in terms of rhythm in the recent past, then of course that must also be due to Corona. Because the Mühldorfer Schäffler, which has also been organized in TSV 1860 Mühldorf since 1862, have now announced that they will be dancing next year, although according to all Schäfflertanz customs, it would actually only be their turn again in 2026. It was announced that after the end of the corona pandemic, the TSV chairman would dance outside of the tour Mühldorfer Gazette explained. This fits with the founding myth of the whole Schäfflertanzerei, which is said to have originated in Munich in 1517 to encourage the people after a plague epidemic – which by the way has not been historically documented. However, it does not fit in at all with the plans of “Schäffler Mühldorf a. Inn eV”.
That independently registered club split off from the TSV Schäfflern two years ago, but initially quietly, and then suddenly announced a dance season for 2025, originally a year before TSV. He now straddles with 2024, according to the indicator, again to the great surprise of the challengers. From 2024 onwards, the Mühldorfer Schäffler wanted to return to the seven-year cycle, according to the indicator. The Schäffler Mühldorf will probably not rely on that. But they can hardly counter again. Because it’s too late for carnival 2023.
