The small church of Pollingsried stands in the middle of the forest near Weilheim. This hamlet no longer exists, so it’s better to stay away from the supposedly “cursed chapel”. Nevertheless: a visit.
The surprise effect comes behind the curve, after a walk along forest and gravel paths, beautiful, green, idyllic. Then suddenly you see the Pollingsried Chapel, dedicated to St. George and St. Anna. A small church that came out of nowhere – and seemingly built into nowhere in the Lauterbach Forest. The hiker enters the clearing on an early summer day, and suddenly, as if to accompany him, the birds can be heard in full chorus, previously silent or at least barely noticed. A sign?
