Four minors, including a young woman aged 15, and an adult were indicted during the night from Sunday to Monday, after the death of Shemseddine, 15, beaten on Thursday in front of his school in Viry-Châtillon. According to the first elements of the investigation, two brothers organized the beating of Shemseddine after learning that their little sister, aged 15, corresponded with him “on subjects relating to sexuality”.
Accompanied by two acquaintances, they went to the Sablons college on Thursday and allegedly asked the teenager to follow them into a building lobby. “The tone rose and blows were delivered, causing the victim to fall,” explained prosecutor Grégoire Dulin. Among the four young men indicted, three are known to the courts.

The adult was convicted in February 2023 for drug possession and the 17-year-old was convicted last year for violence in a meeting, according to information provided by the Evry prosecutor in a press release. The two brothers were imprisoned.

In addition to the two brothers, their two acquaintances who helped them in their ambush were also indicted. They are two young men aged 17. If one of them is not known to the police, the other was convicted of attempted extortion in 2023, according to the prosecutor.
They were provisionally incarcerated before an adversarial debate on Wednesday. The public prosecutor requested the placement in pre-trial detention of these four young people, because, he said, of the “risk of consultation and pressure on witnesses, as well as the major disturbance to public order caused by the “extreme seriousness of the facts”.
The 15 year old sister
The sister, aged 15, was not present at the time of the incident and therefore did not participate in the beating. But according to the first elements of the investigation, she would have been aware of her brothers’ project. She was indicted for willful failure to prevent a crime. A provisional judicial educational measure was also ordered against him. Placed in an educational establishment, she is prohibited from appearing in Essonne.
