Which stars to succeed Julia Roberts on the red carpet this weekend?

Friday evening, time for a first assessment. The Cannes Film Festival will therefore have already rolled out a red carpet in the form of a landing strip for Tom Cruise, paid tribute to the Ukrainian victims, celebrated Omar Sy as a Senegalese rifleman and welcomed two glorious Hollywood actresses, Anne Hathaway in competition, Julia Roberts as a guest star… The Cannes Film Festival has picked up cruising speed before accelerating in the hours to come…

Just this Friday evening, we have two beautiful posters at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.: Tilda Swinton, Ibris Elba and George Miller who promise dreams and magic with Three thousand years waiting for you (Idris Elba is the genie that comes out of a bottle to grant wishes), while Melvil Poupaud and Marion Cotillard are Brother and sister at Arnaud Desplechin.

Saturday at 11 a.m., the emotion will be at its height with the screening of More than ever by Emilie Atlef, the last film shot by Gaspard Ulliel. At midnight, the atmosphere will be more relaxed (and perhaps even a little too much) with Smoking makes you cough by Quentin Dupieux with Anaïs Demoustiers, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Alain Chabat, Gilles Lellouche, Vincent Lacoste and Benoît Poelvoorde.

Blanche Gardin, Louis Garrel, Jean Dujardin…

Saturday evening in the parallel sections, Blanche Gardin and Laurent Lafitte will make La Semaine de la Critique laugh in Everybody loves Joan by Céline Deveaux, while at the Directors’ Fortnight, Virginie Efira, Benoît Magimel and Grégoire Colin will attend the premiere of See Paris again by Alice Winocour on a victim of an attack.

Sunday at 7 p.m., we are waiting for Louis Garrel on the steps with Valéria Bruni-Tedeschi to The Almond Trees where the actress and director looks back on her beginnings in the school of Patrice Chéreau. They will be succeeded by Anaïs Demoustier, Sandrine Kiberlain and Jean Dujardin at 10 p.m. November by Cédric Jimenez, who retraces the investigation after the attacks of November 13, 2015. Virginie Efira will continue her marathon the same evening in the Un certain regard section for Don Juan by Serge Bozon, which she co-starred with Tahar Rahim. Enough to occupy a weekend where, for the festival-goer, or for the viewer of the france.tv digital channel, the most difficult thing will be to choose between all these enticing events.
