Where Munich’s trams are repaired – Munich

Around 800 accidents happen on Munich’s rails every year – most frequently when drivers do not look in the mirror when turning left. Vehicles often cannot be repaired quickly enough. That should change.

It was a picture of devastation that the fire department saw on the night of November 21, 2020. At least that’s how the emergency services themselves later described it. A Mercedes off-road vehicle had rammed a tram on the N27 night line at the Reichenbach Bridge and pushed it several meters off the tracks. With the strength of an entire team, the emergency services pushed the train back onto the tracks. Fortunately, the drunk driver suffered only minor injuries, as did the tram driver; the three passengers escaped with a fright. But the accident car was just scrap, as was the front part of the tram, which had to be towed away.
