The police on the trail of a father, suspected of femicide and kidnapping. Since Wednesday evening, the kidnapping alert plan has been activated to find the young Malek, 8, whose trace was lost in Dunkirk. The wife was also found dead at the couple’s home. What happened Wednesday evening in Dunkirk?
The kidnapping alert plan was triggered to find the young Malek, 8, whose trace was lost in Dunkirk (North). The father, suspected of murder, may have fled with her. The child disappeared during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday avenue de la Liberation, in the Glacis district, popular sector of Dunkirk, where the family home is located.
According to a source, “the 29-year-old mother was found dead at home with three of the four children safe and sound, but an 8-year-old child was missing.” The victim bore traces of strangulation, as well as bruises, according to this source, which specifies that she was discovered by her mother, that is to say the grandmother of the children.
What is the diffused portrait of Malek and that of his father?
According to the text released by the judicial police, Malek has “long, black, curly hair” and “black eyes”. His father is 1.84m tall, has “black hair”, “normal build”, has “tattoos on the back of his neck and wrist” and can be found driving a green Renault Twingo registered DM 485 GJ. Jamel Younès, of Tunisian nationality, is known to the police and justice services, according to the same source.
According to the usual instructions issued in such circumstances, it is advisable not to intervene yourself in the event of the location of the child, but to call 197 or send an email to the address “alert.enlevement @interieur.gouv.fr”.
Where is the investigation?
Still according to the judicial police, “the spouse is necessarily on the list of suspects, first of the kidnapping, then potentially (of the death) of his wife”. Contacted by AFP, the northern prefecture and the Dunkirk prosecutor’s office did not wish to comment. But according to the first elements, the couple seems to have already experienced differences. “We knew him, we had already had words with him in relation to his wife, testified a neighbor about Jamel Younès. He wasn’t a nice person: he was someone who hit her regularly. The police had been notified. The father was “very friendly on the outside”, but “I saw that he raised his hand”, says another neighbor, 53 years old. “There were constant fights, shouting,” she adds, saying the police “regularly came” to the couple’s home.
On the door of the apartment in the Glacis district, a police seal now specifies the nature of the offence: “murder”. The other three children, aged 7, two and a half and 7 months and “safe and sound” were on the spot at the time of the murder. Malek, who is the eldest, is not the victim’s daughter.
