The essentials for decorating the house
A few well-chosen accessories are enough to bring the Christmas spirit throughout the house. This end-of-year holiday season, we’re falling for timeless and durable accessories, with a particular taste for DIY Christmas creations.
The glass bell allows you to showcase your most beautiful decorations. You can also simply slip in a light garland, to illuminate the New Year’s Eve table, to decorate the window, or to decorate the fireplace. A must have – especially since once the holidays are over, it is easy to revamp to integrate the decor of the entrance, bedroom or living room.
In recent years, Scandinavian brands have gradually brought the Advent wreath back into fashion. Traditionally, this wreath has four candles, corresponding to the four Sundays preceding the celebration of Christmas. It can also serve as a centerpiece on the New Year’s Eve table.
The Christmas holidays remain one of the favorite periods for fans of creative hobbies, because there are many DIY ideas that are easy to make with children (or not!). And that’s good: this year, “home” decorations are in the spotlight, especially if they involve slices of dried orange!
The fly agaric is lovely, but very toxic. However, it is one of the iconic motifs of Christmas, since according to legend, shamans once distributed them on the occasion of the Winter Solstice. As a garland, hung on the tree or placed on the fireplace, in glass, wool or embroidered, it is one of the key designs of Christmas 2023.
From the XXL version to replace the real tree to the small model integrated into the window decoration or installed as a table centerpiece, the folded paper tree is one of the accessories to buy (or make!) as a priority. You can go for trendy Christmas 2023 colors like powder pink, or opt for a timeless color such as forest green.
Classic, minimalist or offbeat: when it comes to decorations to hang on the tree, all genres are allowed – and mixing and matching is a very good idea! Whatever their look, however, priority is given to glass ornaments. We hang them on the tree, and we also place them on a dish or under a glass bell to create a truly magical decoration at home.
If decor is very important in creating a festive atmosphere at home, it is also important to feel good at home and to have a cozy space. This year, although festive-looking cushion covers remain a sure bet, we can’t do without plaid! And we favor the coziest materials: wool, fleece or faux fur effect.
The essentials on the table
New Year’s Eve dinner and Christmas lunch are an opportunity to set a well-decorated table. To succeed, this year we’re favoring simplicity – without completely ignoring a little festive side.
To stick to the trends when it’s time to eat, this year we’re choosing graphic black and white tableware. We adopt it as a total look for a contemporary party decor, or we slip in a few pieces to shake up a vintage table service a little.
Is your prettiest vintage tableware already ready? To avoid a slightly kitsch look, play the simplicity card by adopting a linen tablecloth, or an equally refined piece in cotton. It’s all the smarter because this type of tablecloth is as suitable for holiday meals as it is easy for everyday use.
If we are happy to focus this year on simplicity when it comes to tableware and table linens, we still need to keep in mind that it is time to celebrate. And for that, this year we are focusing on a golden cutlery, which we preferably associate with glasses with a simple design.
