Michael Jackson
It’s certainly the most anticipated, and for good reason: the King of Pop was and remains one of the most popular musical stars in history. Directed by the American Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Equalizer), the soberly titled biopic Michael will recount the singer’s irresistible rise, from his childhood in the Jackson Five to his solo career. The title role will be played by Jafaar, Michael Jackson’s own nephew, and the film is expected to be released in April 2025 in the United States.
Bob Dylan
It seems so obvious when we learn it: Timothée Chalamet will be the Bob Dylan of A Complete Unknowndirected by James Mangold (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Le Mans 66, Logan). The star of Wonka And Dune will therefore take up folk guitar for this biopic which will tell the story of how the “Rimbaud of rock” became famous. He will be accompanied by Edward Norton, who will play banjoist Pete Seeger, and Monica Barbaro, who will play Joan Baez. The release date is not yet known.
Bruce Springsteen
It’s Jeremy Allen White, the main actor of the excellent series The Bearwho will wear the “Boss” bandana in Deliver Me From Nowherewhich will specifically recount the creation and production of the album Nebraskareleased in 1982. Scott Cooper (Hostiles, The Pale Blue Eye) will write and direct this biopic based on a book by Warren Zanes. No release date has been announced yet.
Linda Ronstadt
If you followed the captivating series The Last of Usyou may have recognized his song Long Long Time in episode 3? Although little known in France, this country rock singer from the 1970s is a true legend across the Atlantic, where she has won 11 Grammy Awards. Enough to justify the biopic that David Russell will devote to him (fighter, happiness therapy), No ? And surprise, Linda Rondstadt will be played by this other star – but pop, not country – who is… Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building) !
Frank Sinatra
Martin Scorsese has been talking for years about making a film to glorify Hollywood’s most famous crooner, Première recalls. And what’s good is that Leonardo DiCaprio, who is his favorite actor, is 200% ready to step into Sinatra’s shoes! Scorsese reportedly plans to do it as soon as he finishes filming Jesus, his (ambitious) current project. Jennifer Lawrence, the heroine of the saga Hunger Games, would play the role of Ava Gardner, Frankie’s second wife. So glamorous!
Prince
All Première knows is that Bryan Edward Hill, the screenwriter of the series DC Titanswould have written a first script paying tribute to the “Kid from Minneapolis”, who died in 2016. It is the Universal Studio and Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, which should produce this predominantly purple project. As for who will play Prince and when the film will be released…mystery and gumball!
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Also at Universal, the biopic on the American funk-rock group will undoubtedly be one of the great successes of tomorrow. It should revolve around the personality of Anthony Kiedis, charismatic leader and singer of “Red Hot” because the studio has acquired the rights to Scar Tissuehis memoir published in 2007. Kiedis himself will produce it alongside Brian Grazer (An exceptional man, Apollo 13, 24 Hours Chrono). No actors or dates are yet known.
Charles Aznavour
Last but not least, the great Charles – Aznavour, not De Gaulle – will be entitled to his blue-white-red biopic, concludes Première. Titled Mr Aznavourthe film will be directed by the duo Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade (to whom we owe, in particular, Patientsreleased in 2016) and the French crooner will be performed by… Tahar Rahim (Napoleon, A Prophet, The Serpent).
