“Would you rather be alone in the forest with a man or a bear? » The answer might seem obvious and yet, for several days, it has been debated on social networks in the United States to the point of being widely taken up. At the origin of the debates, a video TikTok from Screenshot account, with more than 480,000 subscribers, viewed nearly 17 million times. Of the eight women interviewed, seven chose the bear option rather than the man, without even hesitating.
Whether on the other side of the Atlantic or in France where this trend is slowly arriving, this choice in favor of the bear has sparked numerous reactions, particularly from men. The latter do not understand the responses of the women interviewed and point out the dangerousness of the animal, stating that they “are stupid” and “only have a 14% chance of survival” when faced with a bear.
So why do women choose the bear?
“They didn’t understand that we know very well that the bear would kill us in less than ten seconds. They don’t ask themselves why we prefer this option,” points out a user on this subject on the aggression that the majority of women in society experience against men.
Under the publication of the TikTok video, other Internet users, mainly women, responded to the question in turn, opting for the same answer. Some then argued for their choice. Louise writes, for example: “A bear eh. He has a 1 in 2 chance of attacking you while a guy has a 100% chance. » “At least no one will ask how I was dressed if it’s a bear,” comments Vic. Messengersagittarius then presses: “If you get attacked by a bear, at least we will believe you. »
The fathers interviewed also answer “the bear”
After the debates sparked by the “bear or man” trend, women filmed themselves questioning their partner to find out their response if their daughter was in this situation. And in the majority of cases, around 90%, they too answer “a bear”, asking what a man would do in the forest and emphasizing that they do not “trust”.
Claudine Thibaudeau, spokesperson for SOS domestic violence, was not surprised by the responses from Internet users. Questioned by the Quebec media 24 hoursspotted by The Parisian, she analyzed: “The bear will attack us, kill us and it will end there. The spectrum of violence against women by a man is much broader and can last a very long time. »
She recalled: “If we take everything into account, with violence at work, sexual harassment and street harassment, the risk of being a victim of a man in a woman’s life is very high. In fact, there are few women who have never faced violence from men. »
