“Obviously” the spark at the origin of this beating was “the girls’ outfit,” said Anton on CNews this Tuesday. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the thirty-year-old, his partner and a couple of friends were attacked in old Nice, revealed Le Figaro Monday. But what happened? What are the victims’ injuries? Who are the attackers? 20 minutes takes stock for you.
What happened ?
Around 3:30 a.m., near Cours Saleya in Nice, while preparing to return from a birthday party, the group of friends met two men who questioned the girls. “They called them big whores, among other things, because they supposedly had skirts that were ‘too short’,” Anton testifies.
Shocked by these sexist insults, Anton and his friend respond. The altercation gets out of hand. Anton’s friend, who wished to remain anonymous, was hit by the two attackers, thrown to the ground and kicked hard in the back of the head, according to a short video recorded by a passerby and consulted by Le Figaro. One of the two women in the group tries to stop one of the attackers and receives a slap in the face. A 19-year-old girl witnesses the scene and tries to help Anton’s friend, unconscious in the middle of the street. The nurse then receives a kick in the face.
How are the victims faring?
Called to the scene, firefighters treated the victims of the attack. All were transported to Pasteur hospital in Nice. According to Anton, the young nurse who intervened “lost a tooth and had a fractured jaw”. “We are happy that things were not more serious, that there was not an exit blade, a knife [et] that the friend who was kicked in the head did not end up quadriplegic,” Anton underlines on CNews this Tuesday.
Still shocked, particularly by the fact that his partner received blows from a man, “which is not supposed to happen”, the young man explains that “it’s difficult to tell yourself that when you leave , we risk experiencing that.” But, he adds, “we will have to continue to go out, have a drink and fight” this blind violence.
Who are the attackers?
The two men behind this attack are of Russian nationality, according to a police source cited by Le Figaro. However, they are not subject to an expulsion procedure from the national territory (OQTF). Witnesses at the scene surrounded them while waiting for a unit from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) to arrive and arrest them. They have since been released. According to Anton, a procedure is “in progress” while four of the victims have filed complaints. It remains to be seen “how far it will go,” he notes.
