What if, better than KFC or Popeye’s in the United States, Korean fried chicken was the best in the world?

Imagine chicken in a new fast-food restaurant, or rather fast-good, well not fast-casual to underline how this restaurant has gone upmarket lately… You say Popeye’s? Well here is one of its direct competitors which opens this Thursday, March 9, a few hundred meters away: bonchon. A sign that does not come from the United States, but from Korea. And whose chicken burger uses the thigh when Popeye’s rather relishes the white.

The “best chicken wings” in the world

After having tasted them, we say to ourselves that it is probably no coincidence that Bonchon was elected “best chicken wings” of the world by Business Insider, so crispy and tasty are they. An unexpected crush.

Bonchon, a Korean fast food chain, is beginning to build a solid reputation in Japan (against the famous karaage) and in the United States (against the behemoths that are KFC or Popeye’s). It has also been included in the ranking of the “500 best restaurants” by the Nation’s Restaurant News and the “Top 100 Movers & Shakers” by Fast Casual Magazine. Here is another chicken specialist who displays the same desire as others to offer fast and qualitative food, prepared on the spot and served at the table, but with different seasonings and affordable menus at less than ten euros.

Soon 25 restaurants in France

The opportunity to discover its fried chicken, but also a range of Korean cuisine, bulgogi, mandu, japchae or vegetarian dishes… With more than 400 establishments around the world, Bonchon is therefore establishing itself in France. “Our long-term objective is to open around 25 restaurants in France in the next five years”, confides to 20 minutes Michel Abdelnour, the president of Bonchon France who intends to impose the K food and the K-culture of its brand in a hypercompetitive market where street food that combines quality and accessibility is a booming trend.
