What employers can do for good ratings on platforms – Economy

Christina Lang took a good look around, she liked the job posting, “the positive reviews on the Kununu platform sounded good,” she recalls. So she applied, got the job as a working student – and was disappointed. She toiled for eleven months, often on weekends, in a climate that she calls “toxic”. When the employment relationship ended, the boss told her during the farewell interview: she would only get a job reference and the internship certificate for her studies if she gave the agency a positive rating on the Kununu platform. “Life is give and take,” he said, remembers Lang, still shocked to this day. The case shows a lot: On the one hand, many employers are aware of the importance of rating platforms. On the other hand, some still don’t understand how social networks work in the work context. Because Lang not only refused the rating, but also described her experience on the Linkedin network – where some readers were able to conclude which boss she was talking about.
