When the woman brushes the old cat in the morning, the animal humps with pleasure. The woman, like her cat, is quite old, but when she sees her stretching and enjoying the touch, she thinks of herself. Sees himself in bed with former lovers. Arch your back, offer yourself. She wonders “whether the cat felt afterwards similar to how I always felt after it was over, like if she was happy and grateful to have been brushed”.
