What if dialysis had been carried out without valid reason in Nancy? This is what the Renaloo association, which represents patients with kidney disease, thinks. In a press release sent this Tuesday morning, she announced that she was filing a complaint “with the Nancy public prosecutor for attacks on the integrity of the human body, endangering the lives of others and abuse of weakness”.
In its sights, the Nancy-Lorraine private hospital (HPNL) in the town of Meurthe-et-Moselle, which belongs to the Elsan group, according to The world, who revealed the affair. The daily also indicates that around “thirty patients were unduly placed on emergency dialysis […] until 2023” within the establishment.
Renaloo does not give a precise figure but speaks of a “significant number of patients”. All “suffered from acute renal failure, the treatment of which should have required medical care, but in no case dialysis. » “Medical expertise has confirmed these abusive practices, endangering patients and violating their rights,” writes the association which had already warned of the situation “as early as spring 2023”.
“Despite the seriousness of the facts for which they are accused, the incriminated practitioners are still active. The only concrete measure, taken by the establishment after numerous discussions with Renaloo, was to place under supervision since November 2023 any new dialysis prescription by an external nephrologist. This necessary decision is not enough,” Renaloo further denounces.
Inspections have already been carried out and an investigation by the ARS du Grand-Est is underway, according to The world.
