‘Wednesday’ breaks ‘Stranger Things’ record and becomes the most viewed Netflix series the week of its release

Wednesday explodes the counters on Netflix. The series directed by Tim Burton arrived without warning on the platform on November 23 and climbed without difficulty to the top of the podium of the most viewed English-language series during their first week of broadcast.

By accumulating no less than 341 million hours viewing, Wednesday breaks the record set by the fourth season of Stranger Things with its 335 million hours of viewing.

To give an idea, more than 50 million households have succumbed – it is the case to say it – to this teen-show with macabre charm worn by actress Jenna Ortega.

“Stranger Things” has not said its last word

This success left very little room for competition since the second most viewed program during the same week (November 21-27) was 1899the new series from the creators of Dark, with almost 88 million hours of viewing. Next comes Season 5 of The Crownseason 3 of dead to me and, in fifth position, the fourth season of Manifest.

But if Wednesday crushed Stranger Things in the sprint event, it still has to prove itself in the endurance race. Yes, the fourth season of the Duffer brothers’ series has accumulated 1,352,090,000 hours of viewing during the first 28 days of its broadcast, which remains an absolute record. It is not yet said that Wednesday will do the same.

Anyway, the success of this series is undeniable and we can expect the Gothic style to come back in force in the playgrounds in the coming months!
