Before the temperatures are expected to drop to typical seasonal values at the beginning of next week, Saturday in particular will be unusually mild again in some parts of the country.

In the past few days, low pressure areas with a westerly flow have repeatedly directed very mild air from the Atlantic, particularly to the south of Germany. A strong low pressure area is now extending to the western Mediterranean. A brisk southerly current gets going on its front on Friday and Saturday, as our figure shows. With it, warm air from northern Africa reaches us via the Mediterranean and the Alps.

In the eastern and southern parts of the country the sun often shines on Saturday. Temperatures rise to 12 to 17 degrees, on the edge of the Alps 18 to 20 degrees can be reached with foehn. Towards the west, the low pressure area with denser clouds is already making itself felt; at 10 to 15 degrees it will also be very mild there. There is also plenty of cloud cover in the north, and noticeably colder air in the northeast. Only values of around 5 degrees are expected there, otherwise 8 to 13 degrees in the north.
