After the warm days, Friday in Lower Saxony is turbulent. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts heavy rain and squalls for the west, south and south-east of Lower Saxony.

The thunderstorms can turn out to be severe, with precipitation amounts of 15 to 30 liters per square meter, gusts of wind with speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour and hail with grain diameters of two centimetres. Especially in the west there can be strong thunderstorms until 8 p.m. and in the south and south-east of Lower Saxony until 10 p.m. Even hurricane-force gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour and tornadoes could occur occasionally.

On Friday afternoon, the DWD had already issued an official severe weather warning for Emsland and the county of Bentheim, which was valid until 2 p.m.
