Weather report. Will the West also experience scorching temperatures? We take stock

For several days, if not several weeks, the South-East of the country has been in the grip of a significant heat wave episode which still legitimizes, on this Wednesday, August 16, the placement in orange vigilance of 5 departments. The West is still spared. Will it last? Not really, according to the forecasts of Météo France.

Admittedly, the temperatures that the West is about to experience will not be of the same ilk as those awaiting the Southeast. But the mercury should still rise sharply in the coming days.

Temperatures rise on Thursday

Thursday afternoon, temperatures will reach for example 28 ° C in Nantes, 27 ° C in Rennes and 25 ° C in Caen. In all three cases, the temperatures are above the average for the season.

On the other hand, if the weather will be generally clear in the three regions of the Great West, some showers could fall in the Perche and in Upper Normandy during the afternoon.

Thunderstorms expected on Friday

On Friday, temperatures will drop somewhat but will remain relatively high: 25°C in Nantes, Rennes and Caen. A level that is always greater than or equal to climatic normals.

In the Pays de la Loire, these summer temperatures will however be accompanied by thunderstorms, while Brittany and Normandy will experience some showers, especially in the evening.

A relatively mild Saturday

According to Météo France forecasts, showers will continue to fall in the Pays de la Loire and in Normandy during the morning of Saturday, before the weather becomes more clement (except in the south of the Pays de la Loire).

As for temperatures, we will again raise 25°C in the capitals of regions, and a little less in the coastal areas, as is traditionally the case.

Great weather on Sunday

On Sunday, the mercury will rise again, in the West as elsewhere. Météo France indicates that it could be 28°C in Nantes, 26°C in Rennes and 25°C in Caen.

This heat should be accompanied by a big blue sky over the whole West, even if some clouds will still be present in the morning.

A very hot start to next week

After having come close to it during the weekend, the temperature recorded in the West is likely to exceed 30°C from Monday.

Météo France does indicate that it could be 31°C in Nantes in the afternoon. Vendée, Sarthe, Maine-et-Loire will also experience temperatures equal to or greater than 30°C. It will be a little cooler in Brittany and Normandy but the mercury will still climb there to 28°C and 26°C.

On Tuesday, these two regions should still join the Pays de la Loire within the zone experiencing temperatures of at least 30 ° C.
