Weather in Germany
These were the warmest, driest and sunniest places in spring
Summer is just around the corner: at the weekend it can get as hot as 28 degrees in the south. But spring has also been quite warm and full of sunshine so far, as a recent review by the German Weather Service shows.
It’s going to be really hot this weekend. “The temperature is at an early summer level,” said a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach on Saturday. Sunday will be mostly sunny and mostly dry. The maximum temperatures in the southwest half are expected to reach 22 to 28 degrees. In the north-east half of the country it will not be quite as warm with 19 to 25 degrees. In the south, however, there is a low risk of showers and thunderstorms, at least in the Alps in the southern Black Forest.
According to weather experts, the meteorological spring (ending on May 31) has also had summery features so far, according to the DWD it was “a little too warm, much too dry and rich in sunshine”. It was pretty wet and at times oppressively humid in the first two decades, especially in the west and south. In the north-east, on the other hand, severe drought has dominated since the beginning of the month. At the end of the month it became dry and extremely sunny nationwide.
But where has it actually been the sunniest and warmest in Germany so far? And where particularly cold? This shows a current evaluation of the approximately 2000 measuring stations of the DWD.
