Coldest night of winter in Germany so far
It’s gotten really cold in Germany. It was particularly frosty in Thuringia. But you also had to dress warmly on the Brocken.
Wednesday night was the coldest so far this winter. There was permanent frost all over Germany and temperatures were measured well below zero degrees. However, there was “nothing record-breaking last night,” a spokesman for the German Weather Service told the German Press Agency.
The coldest place was Bad Berka in Thuringia with minus 17.2 degrees. At the Brocken in the Harz and in Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt, minus 15.1 and minus 14.4 degrees were measured.
The weather service also expects permanent frost and “crisp cold” temperatures for Thursday night. It will be cloudier and less cold at the weekend.
