The Oral history, the historical narrative in the form of a compilation of interviews with contemporary witnesses, has proven to be a coherent genre of retrospection, especially in pop culture. The book “Please Kill Me”, about the early New York punk movement, was the first major attempt of its kind in 1996, and in Germany five years later Jürgen Teipel succeeded in writing the official narrative about the beginnings of punk and new in a very similar format Wave in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Berlin.
