Deputy La France insoumise (LFI) for Seine-Saint-Denis, Clémentine Autain speaks this Sunday in the Sunday newspaper concerning the new organization of the party, announced last week, and the Adrien Quattenens affair.
“The decision to compose a direction filled in on itself generates a major crisis. […] Shelving pluralism is not possible. We have a problem of democracy in the life of the movement”, she swings without restraint before opening the door. “To calm the situation and guarantee the unity of the movement, we need to overhaul our organization”. And to appeal to Jean-Luc Mélenchon. ” I think [Jean-Luc Mélenchon] has an up-to-date role [dans cette crise interne] to put an end to it”.
Let’s not fail to set an example in a major fight
She denounces “a provocation”, committed by Adrien Quattenens, deputy of her camp, sentenced Thursday to four months in prison suspended for domestic violence and who spoke on television the same evening. A process which, she says, left her “nailed to the ground”.
“The day after his conviction, and the decision of our group in the National Assembly to reinstate him in four months, Adrien Quatennens was unable to keep a low profile. After a rather severe sentence for violence against his wife and for sending malicious messages, he gives his version of the facts by severely implicating Céline Quatennens, who would, he says, have a “feeling of full power and full power”. He tells that she is incoherent and that she threatened him. He insinuates that she is acting for money. He encloses his wife in her own story. In other words, spinning the register of the love dispute, he reverses the roles of victim and culprit. This communication sounds like a provocation. He methodically challenged all feminist principles. He took no account of the point of balance found democratically within our group and of the words that we posed”.
She adds “At the time of MeeToo, the emancipation of women is not a small issue for the French and for the left. Let’s not fail to set an example in a major fight of our movement”.
