Natja Brunckhorst plays Christiane F. in the feature film “Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo” – based on one of the most successful non-fiction books of the post-war period.
She was highly praised for her role at the time.
But what actually became of the young actress?
“Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo” is the zenith of her career. She can never regain the fame of that time.
After her sensational success, she goes to an acting school in London.
She also models in Paris.
Later she gets other roles, but more in minor films, plays supporting characters in some Tatort episodes.
In 1998, after overcoming cancer, she began to work as a screenwriter and director.
In the meantime she has founded her own production company.
In 2017 she wrote the screenplay for the film “Amelie rennt”, which received the German Film Prize in the category “Best Children’s Film” in 2018.
Brunckhorst has a daughter with her ex-husband, actor Dominic Raacke.
She wrote her last screenplays in 2019 for “Everything in the best order” and “The Opposite of White”.
She also directs these projects.
In 2020 she co-signed an open letter from culture and film professionals to save the cinema film due to the Corona crisis.
