Water must not become an object of speculation – economy

Water belongs to the community. Local authorities decide who gets how much. For decades, the public was not very interested, after all, Germany is a wet country on a global scale. However, the more the levels of the rivers in the summer and the groundwater levels fall throughout the year as a result of climate change, the scarcer the reserves become. And the scarcer an asset becomes, the more attractive it becomes to speculate with it. This increases the distribution struggles. This is the starting position in which three competing groups are currently positioning themselves in this country: the public water suppliers, industry and mineral water manufacturers.
