Watch out for this video that claims to show the Francis Scott Key Bridge explosion

Six vehicles are traveling on a bridge at night when an explosion is triggered, creating an impressive cloud of fire and sparks. This ten-second video has been viewed nearly two million times on TikTok since Tuesday. It was also broadcast on X.

These images show the bridge collapse in Crimea in October 2022 and not the bridge collapse in Baltimore on Tuesday.– Screenshot

However, it does not show “from another angle” the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge, in Baltimore, as claimed by Internet users who share these images. This bridge collapsed on Tuesday after being hit by a container ship.

FAKE OFF

A reverse image search tells us that the video dates from October 8, 2022. Several media outlets then posted it online. The footage shows the attack which targeted the Kerch Bridge, linking Crimea annexed to Russia. Ukraine had recognized its responsibility in the attack on this symbolic infrastructure, inaugurated in 2018 by Vladimir Putin.

In Baltimore, the six people missing after the collapse of the bridge, workers who were working on the infrastructure, are now presumed dead, the vice admiral of the Coast Guard announced Tuesday evening.
