Such clarity in times of ambiguity is rare: Last Sunday, a video was distributed tens of thousands of times via Telegram and other digital channels. In it, a young woman reports in Russian and in tears about “Daniel”, a young Russian who is said to have been killed by a “mob of Ukrainian refugees” in a city in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the evening, however, the police in Bonn tweeted that they had “no information whatsoever about such a violent attack or even a death.”
