Ukraine calls on world community to condemn Russian annexation
At the beginning of an emergency session of the UN General Assembly, Ukraine called on the international community to condemn Russia’s illegal annexations. “The so-called referendums had nothing to do with what we call expressions of the people’s will – neither from a legal nor from a technical point of view,” said Ukraine’s UN ambassador Serhiy Kislizia in New York. He urged the largest UN body to adopt a resolution requiring Russia to reverse its actions. The Russian ambassador to the UN, Wassili Nebensya, on the other hand, complained about “dangerous polarization” at the United Nations and the formation of blocs that undermine international cooperation.

Military chief: 98 miners trapped in Kryvyi Rih in eastern Ukraine
After a Russian missile attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, local military chief Oleksandr Vikul said 98 miners were still trapped underground because of a power outage. According to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, the miners should be freed that night, as Wilkul announced in the evening via his Telegram channel. According to Wilkul, more than 850 miners were initially trapped in four mines. The information could not be independently verified. Russia fired more than 80 rockets at Ukrainian cities on Monday. In addition to the capital Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia and Kryvyi Rih in the east as well as Lviv, Chemelnytskyi and Schyytomyr in the west or Mykolaiv in the south of the country were also affected.
