It may be that every era has its writers who exclusively focus on that era or, if necessary, fire back at it. Some of the books from back then can still be read with benefit today, others not so much. And then there were a few that you would like to see today because they had qualities that current writers crumble under the weight of a little too much fear of anger: wit and even good hate. Walter Mehring was one such writer who, simply because of a few lucky coincidences, did not end up on the gallows, but “only” in lifelong exile.
