This Utah couple is reportedly cousins. In a Tiktok video that has been viewed more than 5.7 million times, Nick and Tylee Waters claim, “Married for over three years and we just found out we’re cousins.” They write in the caption: “I wish it was a joke.”
Viewers are commenting heavily on the video, demanding that the couple make a follow-up video explaining how exactly they are related.
“But how close are you to cousins? First, second, tenth? Lol,” the comments read.
In another video, the Utah couple shares fun facts about their marriage – that the two look alike and share the same birthday.
But they owe their users a more detailed explanation of how closely related they are and how they found out. Some viewers therefore assume that the couple made up the story just for clicks.
Such revelations on Tiktok are not entirely new: just a few months ago, Marcella Hill from Utah shared via video how she and her husband found out that they were related. When looking for a name for their baby, the two went through their respective family trees and were able to see that their grandma and his grandma are cousins. This made Marcella and her husband third cousins. The story went viral and Marcella has more than doubled her followers since then.
