Sharon Stone still owns legendary “Basic Instinct” outfit
It’s one of the most famous outfits in film history: in 1992, Sharon Stone wore a white suit with a matching coat in the erotic thriller “Basic Instinct”. In one scene, the actress crossed her legs, revealing that the then 33-year-old was not wearing any underwear. In a guest post for the US magazine “InStyle” Stone revealed that she designed the outfit with the film’s costume designer. She also revealed that she kept all the outfits from “Basic Instinct” because her fee was so low. “I wrote my contract that I got to keep the clothes. People thought I was crazy, but the truth is I wasn’t paid much money compared to my male co-star. I made $500,000, Michael (Douglas) made $14 million, so it was really smart to keep my costumes.” For 30 years now, the costume has been stored in her house, packed in a garment bag. Stone hasn’t opened it since the ’90s because the zipper on the garment bag broke. “It’s hermetically sealed like a piece of art or a very cool time capsule,” says Stone.
