Helen Mirren’s stepson dies of rare form of eye cancer
British actress Helen Mirren and her husband, US director Taylor Hackford, mourn the loss of his son Rio Hackford. The 51-year-old (left) suffered from uveal melanoma, a very aggressive and rare form of eye cancer. Rio Hackford, who worked as an actor and was last seen in the first season of the series “The Mandalorian”, died on April 14 in California. In a statement, his family now commented on the cause of death. They are both “heartbroken” by the loss, Hackford and Mirren said in a statement that, among other things, US magazine “People” published. In addition, the couple called for regular eye examinations in order to diagnose possible cancer at an early stage. Rio Hackford was from Taylor Hackford’s first marriage, which ended in divorce in 1972. His third marriage has been to Oscar winner Helen Mirren since 1997.
