According to South Korea, North Korea has fired another ballistic missile. Shortly thereafter, Pyongyang accused “rogues” in the United States and South Korea of reckless military actions.
North Korea has fueled tensions in the region by launching a ballistic missile. The South Korean Chief of General Staff said the short-range missile was fired towards the sea off North Korea’s east coast. The Japanese Coast Guard assumed that the projectile fell into the sea.
The rocket launch took place on the anniversary of the death of the father and predecessor of ruler Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Il died on December 17, 2011. With the test, North Korea is violating UN resolutions that prohibit the country from developing and testing such weapons.
The South Korean army said it had increased its alert status. There is also a “close exchange with the USA and Japan on information about North Korea’s ballistic missile.”
North Korea: US considers nuclear war
Just minutes after the launch, the Defense Ministry in Pyongyang accused “rogues” in the United States and South Korea of reckless military actions.
The arrival of the nuclear-powered submarine USS Missouri in South Korea is the latest act that proves that the United States is considering nuclear war, said the ministry statement carried by state news agency KCNA. The “Missouri” docked today in the South Korean port of Busan. The US aircraft carrier “Carl Vinson” arrived there last month.
Warning from the USA and South Korea
On Saturday, the so-called Nuclear Advisory Group of the USA and South Korea published a statement with a clear warning to North Korea. Any nuclear attack on South Korea or its allies is unacceptable and will lead to the end of the government of leader Kim Jong Un, it said. The US side reiterated that “any nuclear attack by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on the Republic of Korea will be met with a rapid, overwhelming and decisive response.”
