Vintage furniture, vintage fashion, vintage motorcycles – as a vintage person, it’s easy to put yourself in the same category. The term actually comes from viticulture, where a certain vintage (English: vintage) marks a special wine quality. This also explains the difference to the word “retro”, which is often used as a synonym but incorrectly. If something is really old, i.e. from earlier times, then it is – albeit not automatically: vintage. On the other hand, if it’s new but looks old, then it’s retro. Retro is the half-silk relationship with vintage.
