We can, for the moment, be overcome by regrets and nostalgia, already. Accept the idea of doubt, perhaps. Feeling deep empathy for a player whose personal life had become a storm, and feeling the irony of seeing Paul Pogba become the player in Juventus history most heavily sanctioned for doping. But the verdict of the Italian national anti-doping organization, which sentenced the Frenchman to four years of suspension, according to regulations which apply to all athletes, also serves as a reminder that champions are responsible for their actions, their friends, and sometimes their family.
