Alexei Navalny’s death has instantly transformed him into a powerful historical figure, in whose honor streets, prospectuses, universities, perhaps even cities, will in time be named. Such a sparkling, energetic personality, who practically stands up alone to the entire system of state power – because his colleagues were always more employees than colleagues – can be found for a long time in the vastness of Russia. Of course, there have been similar figures in the recent past, such as Academician Andrei Sakharov or Boris Nemtsov – they are comparable in importance to Navalny. But Navalny is almost cinematic with his surprising, brilliant existential actions.
