Six departments in the south-west of France are classified Friday in orange vigilance for violent storms, announced Météo-France in its last bulletin. The departments of Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Gers, Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne are concerned. “A hot and humid air mass has settled over the south-west of the country”, warns the forecaster. These storms can be violent, sometimes accompanied by intense rain, hail and strong gusts of wind. They will subside in the first part of the night.
The Val-d’Oise prefecture announced on Thursday the ban on the march scheduled for Saturday for the seventh anniversary of the death of Adama Traoré, who died during an arrest in 2016 and erected as an emblem of police violence, in the context riots following the death of Nahel. Led by his sister Assa Traoré, the collective “Vérité pour Adama” brings together hundreds of people each year on the occasion of a march in Persan and Beaumont-sur-Oise to demand the indictment of the four gendarmes implicated, and denounce police violence. At midday, the prefecture had announced “considering” the banning of this demonstration, arguing of possible “serious disturbances to public order” with the arrival of “disturbing elements”.
