Vigil and prayer for peace for the Ukraine – Fürstenfeldbruck

The fate of Ukraine moves the district citizens so much that there are first demonstrations of solidarity. This Friday, February 25th, the Green Youth invites you to a vigil on the main square in Fürstenfeldbruck, together with the Jusos, the Junge Union, Volt and the party. “The devastating situation in Ukraine dominates our thoughts,” says the moving call to stand together for a peaceful Europe. The vigil begins at 5 p.m.

The Puch Edigna association, which has maintained close ties to Ukraine for decades, is no less moved, as the namesake is considered a local saint there: “In view of the dramatic situation,” they invite you to a prayer for peace this Saturday, says chairwoman Edigna Kellermann, namely on the linden tree in which the blessed Edigna is said to have lived as a hermit for 35 years. “We want to express our solidarity with the country and the people and pray that peace will soon return.” Those wishing to join the 4 p.m. prayer should bring a candle. According to legend, the daughter of the king of France and Anna of Kiev found shelter in Puch in the 11th century, fleeing from a planned marriage.

Another planned event will not take place because of the war in Ukraine: The FDP district association cancels the “Political Ash Thursday” planned for Thursday, March 3, in Eichenau with Mayor Peter Münster and Secretary General Lukas Koehler. District Chairman Martin Koch: “After the Russian ruler – as a democrat I am reluctant to call him President – Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine in a despotic manner with his armed forces, it is not the time, in the traditionally exaggerated manner and in a boisterous beer tent atmosphere to celebrate the confrontation with the political opponent. All democratic forces standing together and consistently supporting a free Ukraine must now be on the agenda.”
