The swarm of every evening sky

It happened these days in the Netherlands, in the north of the country, near the town of Burgerveen, about halfway between Amsterdam and The Hague. Huge flocks of starlings move their orbits in the evening sky as the sun goes down. The whirring of the birds can be seen and heard from afar. Mark McCaughrean was riding his bike when he filmed these footage. There are many lakes and a lot of wildlife in the area, McCaughrean said of his video. He watched for about 15 minutes, and more and more starlings flew in, as well as some herons. According to the nature conservation association NABU in Germany, swarming of starlings is a unique natural spectacle. The closer autumn approaches, the larger the swarms become. According to NABU, swarming protects the starlings not least from attackers from the air.
