Video: Second stabbing suspect dies after arrest from self-inflicted wound

STORY: Highway 11 near the town of Rosthern in central Canada. This is where the second suspect in connection with the weekend’s devastating knife attack was arrested on Wednesday. A short time later, however, he apparently succumbed to self-inflicted injuries in a hospital, according to the police. According to the federal police, the arrest took place about 100 km south-west of the place where one of the bloodiest acts of violence in the country’s history took place. Rhoda Blackmore from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police reports that the suspect was said to have been seen breaking into a vehicle shortly before. “Around 3:30 p.m., the suspect vehicle was seen traveling southbound on Highway 11 south of Rosthern. To ensure the safety of motorists on the highway, the vehicle was pulled off the road into a nearby ditch. Police officers surrounded the vehicle and determined through verbal identification that the driver was Myles Sanderson. He was taken into custody. A knife was found in the vehicle.” Ten people were killed in and around an indigenous reserve on Sunday. The suspect’s older brother and alleged accomplice was found dead in a meadow in the James Smith Cree Nation on Monday. The motive remains unclear.
