Video: Scholz: Enabling the Bundeswehr to permanently defend the alliance and the country

STORY: On Monday, Chancellor Olaf Scholz observed a Bundeswehr combat exercise at the Bergen military training area. Before that, he had various weapon systems of the army explained to him. These included the KZO reconnaissance drone, the MARS-II rocket launcher, the Puma infantry fighting vehicle and the 2000 self-propelled howitzer. Scholz then spoke to the soldiers and emphasized that the Bundeswehr had to be permanently equipped with what was necessary to fulfill the alliance and national defence. O-TON FEDERAL CHANCELLOR OLAF SCHOLZ (SPD): “To organize this change of path cleverly and well, to ensure that we acquire the right weapons, that we make the right decisions as far as management information systems are concerned, that is the task that now lies ahead suits us all. And today we got another small impression of how big and difficult this task is when it comes to planning and preparing everything. Because then it should be exactly the right path for a long time, which we take.” Bergen is one of the largest military training areas in Europe. Armed forces of the NATO member states of Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Belgium are regularly on site.
