STORY: The amount of classified information in Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was apparently enormous. According to information from the US National Archives, the American ex-president took more than 700 pages of confidential documents from the White House to his Florida villa. This emerges from a newly published letter that the US authorities sent to Trump’s lawyers in May. The 15 boxes that were secured in Trump’s house in January also contained top secret documents. In early August, an FBI raid in Mar-a-Lago found more than 20 other boxes, some of which contained data records marked as secret. The investigation is about whether Trump illegally removed documents from the White House when he left office in January 2021 and whether he attempted to obstruct the investigation into the removal of the documents. Trump has described the FBI raid as politically motivated.
