British ex-prime minister Boris Johnson has decided not to run again as prime minister. Johnson announced this in London on Sunday. Although he has sufficient support in the Tory faction, he wants to support former finance minister Rishi Sunak. Sunak announced his candidacy publicly on Sunday. Johnson said he realized he could not govern unless he had a unified party behind him in Parliament. Sunak is seen as the favorite to succeed outgoing Prime Minister Liz Truss, who resigned after just a few weeks in office. The 42-year-old Sunak has significantly more than the required 100 supporters in the faction combined. He ran for the post in September. Lost in a vote to Liz Truss.
