STORY: According to the Coast Guard, 43 people died after a migrant boat was shipwrecked off the coast of southern Italy. The Coast Guard announced on Sunday that 80 survivors had been rescued. There were about 120 people on board the ship. The fire department had previously spoken of at least 30 dead. According to earlier media reports, more than two dozen bodies were washed up on the shore of Steccato di Cutro, a seaside resort in the province of Crotone. More dead were recovered from the water. An Italian news agency reported that the boat hit a rock in rough seas. People from Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan were on board.
