O-Ton Felix Magath, Hertha BSC coach: “My task, which I was happy to take on, is to be at least one or two places higher than now after these eight games with Hertha BSC. And I’m quite confident about that. I describe myself as an athlete, as a footballer. All my life, my whole life, I’ve done nothing but football. And that almost exclusively in the German Bundesliga or in German leagues. And that’s why I can’t do anything else. Me I’m a soccer player, I want soccer, I love soccer. And I think I’ve shown in my coaching stints in the past that I’m able to adapt to situations. It’s never really been portrayed that way, but I’ve been in various German Bundesliga clubs took on this task of, as they say, firefighters, that is, teams that weren’t happy with success but were at the bottom of the table, and then with these teams there nn successfully achieve the turnaround. And I did it in the Bundesliga, you have to count it yourself, six or seven teams did it. And that’s why I see something in this task that is tailored for me. And that’s why I think I’m able to help Hertha in this situation and keep Hertha BSC in this Bundesliga.”
